IAS Seeking Organizers for Post-Ramadan Hub

From the IAS Secretariat:

Call for Proposals

Due to the timing of the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014), 20 – 25 July 2014, the conference organizers recognize that there is a need for a key hub to be held after the end of Ramadan (7 August 2014) in an Islamic majority setting or the Asia Pacific region.

If your organization is interested in hosting and organizing a conference hub, please let us know. Hub organizers should have the facilities, human resources, and networks in place to screen selected sessions from the conference and host a moderated local discussion to examine how the content of the sessions may be used to strengthen the response to HIV locally. The programme of the conference hub should facilitate discussion and debate among stakeholders, potentially leading to the development of a comprehensive plan for future action at the local or regional levels. Organizers are also encouraged to include additional workshops and trainings to strengthen local capacities. Please see the attached concept note for more information.

Organizations are encouraged to work in partnership, combining their resources to host the hub. For example, if your organization has the expertise and resources to plan the programme, but does not have access to an appropriately-sized venue, we encourage you to work with another organization that may have space, but does not have the necessary human resources.

The deadline for application submission is 31 January 2014.
